Making a difference, one customer at a time

Since childhood, I have always had the desire to have a positive impact on the world.

I am currently in my forties, still working retail, and sometimes wonder how I can accomplish this goal.

Then people remind me.

Today at work, three separate customers took the time to genuinely and verbally express their gratitude toward me. I made sure to actively participate in the present moment so I could remember each of these interactions.

I have a history of not taking compliments well. I have either been known to disassociate completely or suspect people of not being truthful. Both are kind of fucked, I realize. I am working on it.

I wanted to document my interactions today as a timestamp and as a reminder that I am, in fact, making a difference in someone's life.

And even though it is not on some large scale, it still counts.

I help people who then help people, who then help people.

And so continues the ripple effect.
